I’m not really one for extravagant Halloween costume parties but I still like to celebrate in some way. I’ve put together a little post all about hosting a casual halloween movie night.
All you will need is a few simple festive decorations, some snacks and one or two spooky drinks.
Starting with decor and snacks! I’ve just chosen some simple “put into a bowl and eat” snacks so there is minimal amount of work. I focused on finding tasty things that went well with my spooky black and white theme. For decor I basically just added a dark table cloth some black candles and white plates and bowls. I feel like as long as you have some sort of uniform colour scheme anything will look like you put in more effort than you actually did. The things I used for my snack spread were the following:
- Blue corn nachos (for that dark and spooky look)
- Salty liquorice pick ‘n’ mix (feel like this is a very Swedish thing but personally I love liquorice and it fits perfectly with the theme)
For drinks I’ve gone for two different cocktails that I created last year for halloween and you can find the recipes here. If you are more of a wine drinker than that works really well too.
Last on the movie night agenda is of course something to watch. You can go down the less scary route with movies like Hocus Pocus and Nightmare Before Christmas or you could go for actual scary horror which is what I did. There are so many horror films but I chose American Horror Story because you can make it into a marathon lasting the entire evening and well into the night if you fancy.
What are you getting up to this Halloween?
